Folderblog 3 Template: Almanac
Folderblog ist zwar noch im Beta-Stadium (wobei wirkliche Bugs mittlerweile weitestgehend ausgeräumt sind), aber ich habe mein neues Theme “Almanac” im Großen und Ganzen fertig. Einige Ergänzungen sind noch geplant und auch bei FB 3 stehen noch kleinere Änderungen an, es wird dann zu entsprechender Zeit ein Update geben. Trotzdem hier der aktuelle Stand, der ohne weiteres nutzbar ist.

Die Installation ist denkbar einfach. Zunächst wird die aktuelle Version von Folderblog 3 auf dem Webspace installiert. In der Datei fb_vars.php sind die notwendigen Anpassungen vorzunehmen (Passwort, Email) und insbesondere das Template zu aktivieren:
$template_name = "almanac";
Nun müssen die Theme-Datei entpackt und die Dateien und Ordner in das Folderblog-Verzeichnis kopiert werden. Thats it. Weitere Anpassungen können natürlich vorgenommen werden (in erster Linie über almanac_style.css).

First of all i would like to thank you for your generousity. I am currently using your Relaxation theme. I modified it a bit and the result is amazing :).
Now I am planning to install Folderblog and of course I will be using the Almanac template you made. Ich möchte dich fragen ob es möglich ist einpaar thumbnails auf mein main blog zu zeigen? Ich meine ob es ein php datei gibt wo ich als include auf dem sidebar als include hinzufügen kann?

I’ve written earlier some words in a comment, how to include a random-image in the wordpress-sidebar. Have a look over HERE.
Integrating more images then one, is not as easy in this case. But I’ll have a look at similar php-scripts. Hope, for the moment you can use this one above?

I was born and raised in Davao City, Philippines and residing here in Germany since 1983. Ich lebe schon seit eine weile hier aber mein deutsch ist leider immer noch katastrophal. Nun du weisst schon…der die das, artikeln, Gross-und-klein Schreibung usw. Mein Hirn schafft das einfach nicht. I took a german language course and mind you what? I sweat blood during the first lesson.
Meine Muttersprache ist Tagalog…für deine Ohren klingt diese Sprache bestimmt wie ein Hühnergegacker…lol. Wir sprechen so ähnlich wie die Italiener…laut und schnell.

lol. Hühnergegacker ist übertrieben. But I must smile when I ‘read’ some sentences. :-) But never mind, german is not an easy language even for the germans.
And yes I no what you mean, but Guru is a little bit overdone. I find all that CSS, XHTML, PHP-Stuff very interesting and it’s a lot of fun playing with the possibilities, but I’m not really a Guru. ;-)

Danke Matthias! Aber warte mal noch etwas, die Beta-Version von Folderblog machte in den letzten zwei Tagen einen Sprung von b07 auf b12. Es hat sich noch eine ganze Menge geändert und ich muß es noch an das Template anpassen (Bin aber fast fertig). Ich poste das dann noch mal als Update. :)

Hi Jowra, ich schließe mich den Lobeshymnen an,
großes Lob für dieses umwerfende Layout. Ich finde es gut das bei deinem Template das Bild im Mittelpunkt steht und nicht das Design, echt gut gelungen :-)

I have been using a restyled version of your Relaxation theme for a few months now and would like to thank you for the great design. I have also played with your old folderblog theme and am keen to try almanac—it looks really nice. My trouble is I have folderblog 3 working but I can’t seem to get almanac working. I think it’s a language problem :-) So, I wonder if you’d mind writing the instructions in English. It’s the only language we Aussies seem to understand. Well that and American ;-)

Oh, thats great John. Thanks for trying it yourself. :) For the ‘Almanac-Theme’ there will be some english instructions soon (folderblog 3 is still beta, but around mid-august it will be final.), but you’re using the Relaxation-Template right now, hm? If you are looking for an Relaxation-Template for fb 3, have a look at this version by Elwing.

just wondering if there is an easy way to add a counter that tracks the number of times each image has been viewed.

Hi John, beide Templates von Dir gefallen mir sehr gut. So habe ich mir auch beide downgeloadet und eingesetzt. Das Relaxation funktioniert auch einwandfrei.
Leider kann ich aber beim Template Almanac keine Comments in meinem Blog sehen. Auch die Captcha Funktion funktioniert nicht… :-(
Was habe ich falsch gemacht? Das Template habe ich von hier und ich habe Folderblog 3.

@warmac I’ve just renamed the fb.php into index.php thats all. =) You can then link to the folderblog-path without the explicit filename (on most php-driven servers).
@rohan the counter would be far beyond the goal of this theme, since this is only an “optical enhencement” of the standard folderblog-install. I recommend asking this question in the folderblog-forum, thats: http://www.folderblog.org/discussion/
You could put as many thumbnails on an archive-page as you like, but there are some changes to do the setup needed. In the file
jowra_settings.phpyou must change the *$thumbs_perrow* and *$rows_perpage* variables to your needs. Then you have to change the filejowra.css. Look for these lines of code:#container_archive {background: transparent;
margin: 0 auto;
padding: 25px 0 25px 0;
width: 495px;
}
and change the width to something that is wide enough to contain your new thumbnail-settings.
@anne Also die CAPTCHA-Funktion ist in meinem Template noch nicht implementiert bzw. habe ich sie rausgenommen. Ich bin aber gerade am Updaten des Templates und die neue Version wird die CAPTCHA-Funktion beinhalten, also noch ein klein wenig Geduld. =)
@anne und miro Warum das mit den Comments nicht funktioniert, ist mir im Augenblick schleierhaft, da es in meiner (identischen) Installation klappt. Ich guck mir das aber mal an. Bis dahin könnt ihr bitte mal prüfen, ob die Userrechte für den Unterordner Comments korrekt gesetzt sind, also am besten auf CHMOD 777. Oder gibt es irgend eine Fehlermeldung?

@miro: Ich hatte selbiges Problem wie Du, dann habe ich im Folderblog Forum diesen Tipp http://folderblog.org/discussion/765/ gefunden und den auch bei mir ausprobiert.
Nachdem ich die beiden Zeilen geändert bzw. die eine Zeile in den beiden Dateien eingefügt hatte, wurden meine Comments auch angezeigt.

Hallo miro,
Voraussetzung ist, daß Deine Kamera sogenannte EXIF-Informationen speichert. Wenn dies der Fall ist, sind diese Informationen im Bild enthalten und werden dann von Folderblog ausgelesen. Solltest Du Deine Bilder allerdings mit Photoshop (oder ähnlicher Software) nachbearbeiten, dann kann es beim Speichern passieren, daß diese Informationen aus dem Bild entfernt werden (z.B. wenn man in Photoshop “Für Web speichern unter…” verwendet.). Um dies zu verhindern, speicherst Du das bearbeitete Bild entweder in Photoshop mit dem Befehl Datei -> Speichern unter… oder Du verwendest nach dem Speichern das Programm Exifer, welches die EXIF-Informationen nachträglich wieder einfügen kann.

Habe Folderblog 3 b16 installiert und dein Template – nur funktioniert bei mir die Kommentarfunktion nicht (es wird nichts weggeschrieben – Berechtigungen sind vorhanden – liegt das daran, dass das template nicht mit Beta 16 funktioniert? Oder mache ich irgendetwas falsch? Die obigen Posts helfen mir nicht.

Hallo MM, überflüssig waren die nicht. ;-) Zum Einen ist das erste Template für eine frühere Beta-Version gewesen (insofern hast Du recht) und zum Anderen werde ich in der überarbeiteten Version (ich hoffe es klappt in den nächsten Tagen) die CAPTCHA-Funktion aktivieren.

I have a question about the font name you used to create the .gif files in the /css folder for the almanac template (for FB3.16). I noticed a problem in the almanac_main.php under the form data. The image name is not submitted in the comment form which will not allow the $_POST data to have the correct information. I changed the file in my app, but you may want to consider adding:
<input type="hidden" name="image" value="<#fbimagename#/>" style="display: none;" />to any almanac document that allows for the submission of comment data. Otherwise the comments will not function properly. The template is very nice other than this one small error. :)

hatte schon im feedback etwas stehen aber denke mal dass es hier besser ist. When ich dass thema almanac anruffe, dan kriege ich etwas dass wie: XML-parsing mislukt: niet ‘well-formed’ (Regel: 1, Karakter: 285)
Habe leider kein idee who dass steht, ich sehe im der code etwas mit einem rote (D)octype html

Harry, das kommt daher, weil Du vorher das Relaxation-Theme verwendet hast, das mittlerweile von Elwing entwickelt wird. Wenn Du alamanac installieren willst, mußt Du vorher alles löschen und neu installieren.
Aber ich veröffentliche auch heute oder morgen eine neue Version von Almanac, Du kannst also auch noch warten. ;-)
