WordPress-Theme: Relaxation
Nach dem ich in den letzten Tagen ein sehr erfreuliches Feedback zum Design meines Blogs erhielt, habe ich nun (in aller Eile) noch etwas die Theme-Dateien aufgeräumt, kleinere Anpassungen vorgenommen (Formatierung der Kommentare z.B.) und schließlich den Style hochgeladen. Et volá: mein erstes WordPress-Theme steht der Allgemeinheit zur Verfügung. ;)

Warum Relaxation? Ein User im Forum auf WordPress.org bezeichnete das Theme als beruhigend (soothing). Das fand ich ganz nett und da es ja im Vergleich zu vielen bunten Styles recht gedeckt gehalten ist, hat es vielleicht eine entspannende und erholsame Wirkung? Das ist natürlich Nonsens, mir fiel einfach nichts besseres ein. ;)
Über Feedback zum Theme würde ich mich freuen, denn mir ist natürlich auch daran gelegen, es weiter zu verbessern und/oder Fehler auszumerzen. Have fun!

Thanks to magma, there is already a dutch translation available. Look over here or grab your copy of relaxation.zip. The nl_NL.mo is now included in the package.
Update 2006-01-11:
The whole theme is now localised via the gettext()-functionality of WordPress. Included in the package are at the moment the de_DE-version and the en_US-version which should function as a reference for editing and translating the phrases. It would be really appreciated if somebody just has the time and translate the *.po-file in his native language. Using poedit, this only takes some minutes. If you have questions regarding this issue, please drop me a line. Thanks.

WordPress 2.0 is using a screenshot of the theme in the admin-panel. This has been added.
Update 2005-08-05:
Included the Photoshop PSD files and a Photoshop action to create such backgrounds. Hope it works for you.

I had never touched the files archives.php and 404.php until today. Mea Culpa. Thanks to D.P. for mentioning this issue.

After a comment from Clemens that my own version of relaxation is working in safari, I’ve put my style.css in the download archive and hope again that safari-users can use this theme too (now).

- added an alternative set of background-images
- included a folderblog-template in relaxation-style

- fixed the problem with the wrong indent of the link-list

Meinst Du die Zufallsbilder hier in der Sidebar oder meine Photogalerie an sich? Ich denke mal die Zufallsbilder, oder?
Das habe ich mit ich mit dem Random Image Rotator bewerkstelligt. Zu finden hier. In dem Paket ist eine Datei rotate.php enthalten, die kopierst Du in ein Verzeichnis auf Deinem Webspace wo Du die Bilder (Thumbnails) zu liegen hast.
Nun mußt Du nur noch in der sidebar.php einen Link auf die rotate.php setzen. Bei mir sieht das wie folgt aus:

(Die eckigen Klammern gegen spitze austauschen. ;) ) Das war es schon. Wenn Du magst, schau mal ins deutsche WordPress-Forum, dort habe ich es auch mal beschrieben und wenn Fragen auftauchen, kannst Du ja dort nachhaken. ;)

Did you modify the get_links_list() function in wp-includes to fix the indentation of the BlogRoll list? On my stock install it is indented a bit more than the other entries on the sidebar. It’s a great theme that I have been trying to reengineer on my end, so thanks for making the theme available to us!

@StonedBene Eigentlich habe ich nicht mehr viel verändert. Nur das Aussehen der Kommentare und den Code aufgeräumt. Würde also reichen, wenn Du die comments.php und die style.css kopierst. Sonst mußt Du nämlich das Datumsformat wieder neu anpassen. Ich habe es auf das Originallayout zurückgestellt. Aber mal gucken, vielleicht mach ich auch noch eine deutsche Version. ;-)
@roodee Thanks for the feedback. =) You’re right, I’ve modified the file wp_root/wp-includes/links.php, cause the list-tags (ul, li) where nested somewhat quirky. But I get my hand on this and trying to solve this problem with CSS only. Check back soon. ;-)

Hello i really like this theme for wp i want so much to use it however this theme is broken in Safari which is my and most of my audiences browser.
Can you please repair this error please.
The problem being the sidebar appears incorrectly at bottom of page instead of correct position.

I have isolated the problem in safari with this theme.
Safari does not like “float” command as a result is not understanding how to correctly position. the sidebar.
the problem is that you need to turn off float for whichever column is always taller.

I thank you very much for solving this problem (since I have no access to a mac with safari). I will look out for a CSS-Hack hiding this solution from other browsers and add it to the style-sheet. I will put a note in there, with your name and a link to your site, okay?
Check back often here if you like, since I still have to solve the problem with the ‘link’-section in the sidebar, wich is indented more then the other sidebar-topics.

Simply put Safari does not recognize float command and is therefore neccesary to set content to position instead of float for the sidebbar to correctly align within safari browser.

There was one really anoying thing: the wrong indent of the link-list in the sidebar, as mentioned earlier by roodee. I’m really happy, that this is now fixed. =)
Through these changes, the theme should perfectly validate as XHTML 1.1.

Die Galerie (an der ich noch einiges ändern möchte) ist mit folderblog umgesetzt.

Ein sehr kleines PHP-Script, aber äußerst flexibel und dadurch recht leicht an jede Website anzupassen. Guck es Dir mal an und wenn Du Fragen hast melde Dich. Für den Anfang nimmst Du für folderblog am besten die CSS-Datei vom Relaxation-Theme. Je nach dem, ob Du den gleichen Stil wie im Blog haben möchtest oder Du entwickelst was eigenes (was ja normalerweise immer mehr Spaß macht ;-) ).

Naja ich werds mir mal anschauen. Hab noch ein paar Dinge die ich bei mir einbauen möchte. Allerdings bin ich ein ziemlicher CSS und PHP Anfänger. Von daher wird das wohl nicht ganz so einfach. ;) ... aber probieren geht über studieren. Und danke für das Angebot und die Antwort.
Da kommt gleich noch ne Frage. Wie bindest du die kleinen Bilder mitten in einen Artikel ein? Einfach nur über HTML?

Ja, das ist kein Problem. Ganz normal über den IMG-Quicktag im Admin-Bereich beim Schreiben des Artikels. Du meinst wahrscheinlich, warum der Text das Bild sozusagen umfließt? Dazu ist eine kleine Anpassung in der style.css notwendig. Bei mir sieht das so aus:
#content img {float: left;
}
Das bedeutet, daß sich der Textumfluß nur auf die Bilder im Content-Bereich, also auf die eigentlichen Beiträge bezieht. Die Formulierung
float: left;sorgt dafür, daß das Bild am linken Rand steht und der Text auf der rechten Seite vorbeifließt. Genauso wäre auchfloat: right;möglich, dann würden die Bilder am rechten Rand platziert werden.Bei Bedarf kannst Du das aber auch mal schnell im Beitrag ändern, mit sog. inline-code. Du fügst dann einfach ganz normal das Bild ein und ergänzt dann
<img style="float: right;" src="..." />o.ä.

That looks perfect. Thanks for finding this out. :) I’ve changed it to:
left: 1px;since you must provide a unit to the value. I’ve just put in my own theme and it works great, looks identical in all new browsers under windows and the CSS is now validating perfectly.

Hi, sehr schönes Theme, aber ich habe noch ein kleines Problem: Ich habe das Theme installiert und die die deutsche Sprachdatei von Wordpress.de installliert. Allerdings gibt es jetzt einen Sprachen Mischmasch. Zb. Heisst es in der Sidebar zwar “Kategorien” aber immernoch “Archive”. Und auch weitere englische Wörter/Sätze sind noch vorhanden. Bei dir hier auf der Seite ist aber alles Deutsch, was muss ich machen damit das bei mir auch so ist?

Also daß es in der Sidebar immer noch Archive heißt, liegt an der Übersetzung der locale Funktion, das wird in allen Themes so übersetzt. Ich vermute mal, es soll die Mehrzahl von Archiv sein. ;) Genauso übersetzt er Search mit Suchen statt Suche.
Ich habe die Anpassungen per Hand vorgenommen. Du müßtest Dir also etwas Zeit nehmen und mal die Template-Dateien im Verzeichnis /wp-content/themes/relaxation/ einzeln durchgehen und alle englischen Wörter die Dich stören mit den deutschen überschreiben. Also wenn in der Sidebar z.B. steht:
<h2>< ?php _e('Archive'); ?></h2>dann änderst Du das in:
<h2>Archiv</h2>Das macht zwar insgesamt etwas Arbeit, aber Du hast dann natürlich völlig freie Hand, kannst also statt Archiv auch Ablage o.ä. schreiben. ;)
Alternativ könnte ich Dir natürlich mein Original-Template schicken, an dem müßtest Du aber auch noch etwas basteln, ich hab ja z.B. in der Sidebar noch einen Link zu meinen Photos und so. Kann ich Dir aber gerne schicken wenn Du magst. =)

I’m not shure what tagline means. Is it the ‘archive for category …’-thing? If so, you have to edit the #header ID in the style.css. You must change the height value there.

Simply lower the 120px until it suits your needs.

curious. i’m using Safari (1.3) and the sidebar is appearing at the bottom of the page—here, for example, “Suche” appears a few cm below the Firefox 1.0.3 >> link. I don’t think this can be intentional, eh?

Mumkin, you’re right. This behaviour is not intended. I’ve tested the site and the theme with the Safari Screenshot Generator (SSG) and everything looks fine. I think it’s all about a
floatbug in safari and it really makes me sleepless nights. ;)I could remove the
float: left;statement from #content and the problem disappears, but the layout in all other browsers looks slightly different then. And I’m still wondering why the screenshot in the SSG looks okay.If anyone has an idea…?

Ich mag das Theme und habe es gerade mal auf meinem englischen Blog installiert. Das Theme welches man herunterladen kann funktioniert was die Navigation angeht nicht korrekt. Dein Blog selber sieht aber korrekt aus. Kann es sein das der Bugfix fuer Safari noch nicht (oder nicht mehr) im Download enthalten ist?

Jowra, ja habe ich! Noch eine Sache. Sobald ich das div mit dem header entferne (brauche ich fuer meine Seite nicht) rutscht die rechte spalte sofort nach oben!
Ich werde dein neues Stylesheet testen sobald ich meine Anpassungen fertig habe damit ich nicht durcheinander komme.

float:leftElemente. Die habe ich in meinem Stylesheet soweit es geht entfernt und die sind jetzt auch in der downloadbarenstyle.cssdrin. Also hoffe ich ganz stark, daß es jetzt auch da funktioniert.Also keine Eile, aber ich freue mich, wenn Du es mal ausprobierst. :)

John, danke fuer dein Theme. Ich hab es jetzt bei mir fertig eingebaut und zu einem dreispaltigen Theme incl. Headergrafik umgebaut. Im Moment arbeite ich an einem Plugin um die 3. Spalte aus WordPress heraus pflegen zu koennen. Sobald das fertig ist kann ich dir die sourcen incl. dem 3. spaltigen Theme gerne zur Verfuegung stellen.
Ich werde aber erstmal im laufe der naechsten Woche mal dein orginales Theme ausprobieren.

erst mal ein großes Lob für Deine Kreation, das ist echt der Hammer und sieht klasse aus! Ich bin auch immer noch am Überlegen, ob ich oben eine große Headergrafik einbaue, jetzt weiß ich wenigstens, wie das wirken würde. ;) Du kannst das auch gerne als “Big Relaxation” :D oder so ähnlich, publik machen. Die Theme-Sache verstehe ich ja gerade so, daß jeder sein eigenes, indiviuelles Layout bastelt, sonst wird es ja schnell langweilig (siehe originales Kubrick-Theme).
Du kannst es mir natürlich auch gerne schicken und ich packe dann in meine ZIP-Datei einen Ordner 2-spaltig und einen 3-spaltig. :)
Das mit dem Plugin klingt interessant, ich habe mich heute auch gerade zum ersten Mal mit der Plugin-API beschäftigt und kämpfe mich da so langsam rein. Das Grundkonzept ist ja recht einfach, manche Dinge verstehe ich noch nicht so ganz, aber das wird schon.
Noch mal, ganz große Klasse Dein Layout!

Sorry für die späte Reaktion meinerseits.
Du mußt jeweils nach dem Upload eines Bildes die Datei
post.phpstattindex.phpim folderblog-Verzeichnis aufrufen. Dann erscheinen Eingabefelder, in denen Du z.B. ein Datum eintragen und eine Erläuterung zum Bild schreiben kannst. Du mußt dann ein Passwort eingeben (wird in der Dateivars.phpdefiniert) und klickst dann auf: “Create Thumb and Update”.John

Gott, ich hab soviel Dinge im Kopf momentan… ;) Stimmt hatte ich mir angeschaut, seltsames Phänomen. Kannst Du selbst denn Kommentare schreiben? Eher nicht, oder? Also da Du die Seite auf freecity hostest, würde mir als Stichwort safe_mode PHP einfallen oder die Kommentare müssen noch irgendwie aktiviert werden, aber das ist eigentlich unwahrscheinlich. Nein dasist die ganz normale archiv.php die in dem Themeordner drin is,die ich da ansteuere.
Es kann schon sein das das am Blogcountercode liegt.Ich teste das mal.Der Blogcountercode versaut mir nämlich auch validen xhtml 1.1 code.

ich habe mir auch seit heute die lazy-gallerie zum testen in Wordpress eingebunden.
Meine Frage wäre noch, gibt es die Möglichkeit,
die Unterordner und Hauptordner wo die Fotos liegen, die mir auf der Website mit den Namen desjeweiligen Ordners darstellt werden mit einem Bild anzeigen zu lassen und darunter den Namen des Ordners?
Eine zweite Frage in bezug auf Wordpress hätte ich noch, und zwar wird mein Layout kommplet zerstossen wenn ich auf Kommentare gehe. Woran kann das liegen?

This is a beautiful theme. However, I receive the following error message when I try to upload (with FileZilla) and install Relaxation into WordPress 1.5.2:
bq. Broken Themes The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template. Relaxation: Stylesheet is missing.
But I can see “Relaxation/WordPress/relaxation/style.css” and “Relaxation/Folderblog/relaxation.css” in the theme folder. How can I fix this?

Re: “Stylesheet is missing”— Someone else had a similar problem with a different theme. In their case and mine, the stylesheet was nested too deeply, and WordPress couldn’t see it. I should have uploaded only the “relaxation” (lowercase-r) folder. Works fine now.

Hallo,
erstmal riesengroßes Kompliment für das sehr schöne Theme. Nun meine Frage: Ich hätte gerne als Header ein 700×180 Pixel großes Bild eingesetzt. Nun habe ich versucht dein Header-Bild in Photoshop zu modifizieren, klappt aber leider nicht so wie ich mir das vorgestellt habe. Ok, erstell ich das Bild halt komplett neu. Klappt auch alles wunderbar, nur den schattigen Effekt, der am Rand entlang läuft, den bekomm ich nicht hin. Mit den Aktionseinstellungen für Photoshop aus Deiner zip-Datei klappt das nicht, da ich ein Bild habe und nicht selbst ein Rechteck füllen kann. Kannst Du mir nen Tipp geben, wie Du das gemacht hast?

Hallo Martin, ich bin ab morgen ein paar Tage unterwegs, versuche aber mal Folgendes:
1. Grundform (so wie Du das Bild haben willst) entwerfen und die Aktion anwenden
2. Dein Bild in die richtige Größe bringen und in die PS-Datei ziehen in der Du die Aktion angewandt hast (als oberste Ebene)
3. Auf das Miniaturbild der Ebene “Form White Kopie” bei gedrückter STRG-Taste klicken, damit erhältst Du die Form als Auswahl
4. Auswahl umkehren (STRG+I) und bei aktivierter Ebene mit Deinem Bild “Entf” drücken (also die Auswahl löschen)
Hoffe das war nicht zu kompliziert, ansonsten erklär ich es nächste Woche noch mal ausführlicher. ;-)

Leider komme ich nicht weiter. Ich habe den Ordner relaxation in den Ordner wp-content/themes/ kopiert und wollte das Theme auswählen. Leider steht dort dass ein Sylesheet fehlen würde. Im Ordner ‘relaxation’ liegt aber eines.
Kannst Du Dir denken welches CSS hier von Wordpress gesucht wird?

Ansonsten poste mal bitte die vollständige Fehlermeldung zur fehlenden CSS-Datei. Vielleicht gibt die noch mehr Aufschluß.
